Anyway, fly fishing in Rockport has been pretty good lately. We still have some pretty high water, although after a few storms from the North, it has blown a little of the water out. But not much. We are still seeing plenty of reds pushed way into the grass throughout the day. Again, this has made for some very fun fishing.

The trout fishing has been very good in the mornings. They have been holding in their usual haunts and very willing to eat a fly. Depending on the day, we are having pretty solid success with topwater flies as well. It’s always kinda fun seeing them come up and crush your fly on the surface. But this has been primarily a morning and evening game.

We have had a couple of storm fronts push through lately. This has goofed up the fishing a little bit, but not bad. Just a few less fish in shallow for part of the day and some really frustrating wind conditions. Looking forward to a break in the “W”. It allows us far better opportunities of some of these spooky fish in shallow.

We should be experiencing these higher tides for another few weeks. This will continue to allow these fish to move up into the grass and chase the bait. As we move further towards winter, you can expect some of this high water to recede and our winter holds to be more common. Sunny days are bringing out the fish.

Fly fishing in Rockport, Texas and surrounding waters has been excellent as of late. The weather has bee cooperative… mostly. The wind can be a bit tough at times, but the sun is out and temps are perfect.

While fly fishing the flats surrounding Rockport, TX lately, we are seeing massive amounts of bait in the shallows. Shrimp and glass minnows have been most prevalent as of late and the fish have taken notice. Cruising reds, with their backs out of the water, can be seen searching for food. The sea trout have been very active in the mornings, chasing shrimp in shallow as well. Needless to say, fly fishing in Rockport is great right now.
