Fly Fishing Port Aransas Texas for Redfish

So it appears that we got the website issues under control for earlier this week. Again, sorry to those that came looking for a fishing report and didn’t find one up to date. But all is well now. So, here is you current Rockport fishing report for mid February.

We had a little bit of weather early in the week. So that led to a couple of down days for the guides at Fly Fish Rockport. By Thursday though, things had snapped back into shape. Low winds and lots of sun greeted us Thursday morning, as well as some hungry fish. It fished really well that day, and continued through the remainder of the week.

Today we had sunny skies and warm temps, hovering around 80 degrees. The fish were all over the place today. Lot’s of tails in shallow, into the early afternoon hours. Most were working into a fairly brisk West wind, with their faces down in the mud rooting around for food. A dark colored crab, where they could see it, got eaten every time. Some even chased it done it if ended up near their tail… or elsewhere.

Tomorrow will mark the beginning of a change in the weather. We have a front blowing in Sunday afternoon. And with it, some wet weather for Monday. But it looks like it will be short lived, giving us perfect weather for the rest of next week. I would expect the fish to be hungry, following the front blowing through.

We will keep you informed and keep the Rockport fishing report up to date this coming week. And of course folks can always follow along on Instagram or Facebook for the very latest news. We try to post something most every day there. Or of course you can email any time for additional info or ask about what we did that day.

There are still some February dates available to fish. And again, Spring dates have been filling up very quickly. So if you are interested in getting out on the water, contact us soon so you can secure your dates on the calendar.
