The weekend of March 11th and 12th, we packed up our bags and headed North to the Dallas Fort Worth area for the first annual Texas Fly Fishing & Brew Festival. The event was held in the Plano Centre in nearby Plano, TX. This was the first year for this event, although its sister show is held in Virginia every year. We’ve attended that show a couple of times, so it was an easy call to hop at the chance to participate in this show.
The show was very well attended both days. And it seemed like most were having a pretty good time. There was plenty to do as far as classes, casting ponds, rod demos, featured speakers and of course plenty of craft beers to try out. Many of the industry reps were on hand showing off the new goods. There was also great representation from all the good Texas fly shops from Dallas, Houston and Austin. Always fun to see those folks.
Our Fly Fish Rockport booth was complete with plenty of photos, videos, tons of swag to hand out and free beer! We had a bunch of fun visiting with everyone and filling them in on the latest and greatest going on down here in the Rockport area.
We will be back up in the area on April 4th, speaking to our friends over at the Fort Worth Fly Fishers. So for those that may have only had a chance for a quick hello at the show in Plano, come by in April to get a more in depth look at what we do, where we do it and all that fun stuff. We will probably toss out a bunch more free swag while we are there as well. So if you missed your shot in Plano, all is not lost.
Now for the important stuff…
At the Texas Fly Fishing & Brew Festival, we were having those who hung out with us at our booth sign up for our drawing. Hats, shirts, facemasks and a full-day guided trip were all up for grabs for those who signed up. Well, after being on the water every day this week and slacking in the evenings, we finally got around to drawing some names of the lucky winners. A big thank you to all that came by and signed up. And a big congrats to the winner of the guided trip. That lucky guy is Michael Perez. So if you know him, be sure to heckle him a bunch. We also drew about a dozen other names as well. Those lucky few will get a hat, shirt or something random in the mail here in the coming week as well.
